About Gergen’s
A Phoenix orthodontic and sleep lab since 1986
Gergen’s builds appliances for orthodontists and general dentists across the country: orthodontic appliances and retainers, splints and night guards, dental sleep appliances, G-Force clear aligners, and 3D printed and sintered work. One laboratory, one phone number, and technicians who work the case with you.
Four decades at the bench
1986
The lab opens in Phoenix
David Gergen, CDT, starts the lab building orthodontic appliances for orthodontists and dentists.
2011
Sleep appliances
David runs his first sleep training program for dentists, and the lab's dental sleep line grows.
2012
Medicare Herbst
When Medicare narrows its coverage, Gergen's is one of two laboratories able to fabricate the Herbst appliance for Medicare patients. The Pro Player Health Alliance launches.
2013
ASBA dental division
The American Sleep and Breathing Academy asks David to build its dental division.
Today
Digital and printed
3D printed and laser sintered appliances, G-Force clear aligners, and printed sleep appliances sit beside the hand-built work.
Founder
Started by a technician, still run by one
David Gergen, CDT, opened the lab in 1986 after working as the personal technician to leading orthodontists. He still works at the bench, and he built the lab around one idea: the technician should know the case, and the prescriber should be able to reach that technician.

What the bench does
Digital design
Intraoral scans are designed in CAD and checked against the bite before manufacture.
Printing and sintering
Models and appliances are 3D printed or laser sintered where the geometry favours it, and built by hand where the mechanism demands it.
Materials
Heat-cured acrylics, dual laminate, thermoformed splint materials and orthodontic wire, selected per design.
Hand finishing
Every appliance is finished at the bench: margins trimmed, surfaces polished, clasps adjusted on the model.
Case review
Cases are checked against the prescription when they arrive and again before they ship.
Technicians
Long-tenured technicians in Phoenix who know the appliances they build.
Talk to a technician
Call before you send the case.
If you are choosing an appliance, unsure about a design, or want a second opinion on a bite, call us. Every case is welcome as a scan or an impression.
