The Theroux-style Phase I Retainer is designed to maintain arch form following early expansion or interceptive orthodontic treatment while allowing permanent teeth to continue erupting.
Its design is particularly useful during the mixed-dentition phase, when conventional full-coverage retention may interfere with normal eruption.
